Reverend Walter James Jones, Sr.

Born the eldest of four children to the late Mary Eliza and Alexander Jones Sr., in Greensboro, Alabama, Reverend Jones accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Horeb Baptist Church in Newbern, Alabama.​

 

A graduate of Sunshine High School, he enlisted in the United States Army under the delayed entry program. While serving, he met and married Barbara Sherrie Harris of Greensboro, AL. To this union three children were born: Marcus Alexander Jones, Walter James Jones Jr., (Cheria (Ervin) Jones) and Shermika Nicole (Jones) Walker (Nigelas Walker).​

 

He is also the proud grandfather of ten (10): Tania Nicole Hardin, Jayla Camile Sibley, Aniya Lynn Taylor, Micah Isaiah Jones, Kylan Nigeles Walker, Joshua Nehemiah Jones, Kaleb Xaxies Jones, Londynn Elise Jones, Elliana Nicole Walker and Kareem Jamari Walker.​

 

Reverend Jones served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years of active duty. He spent 8 years overseas, with tours in Korea, Turkey, and two in Germany.  His state side duty stations include Fort Lewis, WA; Fort Hood, TX; and Redstone Arsenal, AL where he retired from active service. After retiring from the Army, Reverend Jones became a JROTC Instructor at Sparkman High School for 21 years and retired from that position as a Junior Reserve Officer Corps Instructor.​

 

Upon arrival from Germany in 1995, Reverend Jones and his family joined St. James #2 C.P.C.A. Church in Harvest, AL where he was a faithful member for over 24 years. He served as Associate Minister under Pastor William Robinson where he taught Bible Study, Sunday school and started the Brotherhood. He served as Stated Supply Pastor for Mt. Sinai C.P.C.A. Church in Toney, AL for 5 months.​

 

He is a graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, MO with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; he also holds a Certificate of Completion for Acquisition and Procurement Management from Athens State University in Athens, Alabama.
